A world-renowned theatre producer, Martin McCallum, known for his iconic shows like Les Misérables and Cats, has put his enchanting country estate, Urimbirra, in Tilba Tilba on the market in NSW. The property, nestled on 34 hectares of picturesque land, served as a tranquil retreat for McCallum and his partner, Gwynne Jones. The estate, boasting six bedrooms, six bathrooms, lush gardens, and a luxurious swimming pool, was a haven that the couple cherished.
McCallum, a prominent figure in the British musical theatre scene, was a driving force behind the success of numerous Broadway and West End productions. His legacy includes over 500 shows and a tenure as the president of the Society of London Theatre. The estate, purchased for $3.75 million in 2021, is now listed for sale with a price range of $5.75 million to $6.25 million. David Nolan of Webster Nolan Real Estate is overseeing the sale, set to go under the hammer in August.
Meanwhile, in Sydney, the Crown Tower’s opulent penthouse, valued at around $80 million, is rumored to have been acquired by Lawrence and Sylvia Myers. Lawrence, a prominent figure in James Packer’s business empire, serves as the chief executive of Consolidated Press Holdings. The Myers may soon become neighbors with Packer, who also owns property in the same building. The penthouse, spanning the top two floors of Crown Towers, stands as one of Australia’s most expensive residential deals.
The Myers are selling their lavish Rose Bay residence, priced above $90 million, due to Lawrence’s demanding international business commitments. Lawrence, an accomplished accountant and executive, holds various leadership positions in prominent organizations, including Breville and VGI Partners. Their new penthouse offers luxurious amenities like a gym, pool, and cinema, reflecting their affluent lifestyle.
Elsewhere, the Woollahra residence of Elizabeth and Greg Sanderson, of Sanderson Mercedes fame, has been sold for $9.75 million. The Sandersons, who have relocated to the Southern Highlands, passed on their Alex Popov-designed home to Hugh Allen, a pediatrician, and his architect wife Judith Ainge. The property, sold through Georgia Cleary of McGrath Paddington, exudes charm and sophistication, reminiscent of an English countryside manor.
Allen and Ainge downsized from their previous residence in Woollahra, which they sold for $10.6 million earlier this year. The buyers of their former home were Michael Porter, co-founder of Skin Control, and his husband Billy Mitchell, a marketing professional. The couple’s real estate transactions reflect a trend of high-end property movements in the luxury market, showcasing the allure of prestigious addresses and sophisticated living environments.
