This product comprises three distinct plays:
1️⃣ “The First Thanksgiving” – This stirring narrative is based on the experiences of my neighbor, a brave immigrant who journeyed to America with her son. Her introduction to American customs, particularly the celebration of Thanksgiving, marked her initiation into this new culture. Recounting her story made me reflect on the countless parents who have made similar sacrifices, immigrating to unfamiliar lands for the sake of their children’s future, and may not have had as heartwarming an inaugural Thanksgiving experience.
2️⃣ “The Name of Two Million Faces” – This play was born from my admiration for Pulitzer Prize-winning photography. Inspired by the emotionally-charged story behind Nick Ut’s “The Terror of War” photograph, and enriched by my extensive research on the Vietnam War, this story pays homage to the lasting impact of such war photography. It reinforces the belief that irrespective of the circumstances, every individual in such a scenario would still strive for rescue, underscoring how these narratives, though often overshadowed by the grandeur of war, remain humanity’s most sacred memories.
3️⃣ “The Reunion” – This play stemmed from a comment I stumbled upon on Instagram, proposing an imaginary Second Civil War in the US. Intrigued by this concept, I fused it with an existing idea about a Death Notification officer. Initially conceived as a short story, the narrative did not resonate until I ventured into playwriting. This became my first play and the story unfolded effortlessly.
