Joondalup Health Campus in Perth has recently unveiled a new 106-bed public ward block and an expanded public theatre complex, catering to the healthcare needs of the rapidly growing northern suburbs. The ward block features modern patient rooms and will see further bed additions in the near future with additional investments.
The newly revamped public theatre complex now includes advanced catheter laboratories to enhance surgical capabilities, particularly for cardiac and vascular procedures. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, these labs are designed to provide real-time imaging support for minimally invasive procedures, ensuring the delivery of top-notch healthcare services.
This significant expansion project at Joondalup Health Campus is part of a larger initiative by the Cook Government, with a total investment of $307.9 million. The State and Commonwealth governments have jointly funded this six-year endeavor, aiming to address the healthcare needs of the community and improve overall patient care.
Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey emphasized the importance of this expansion, highlighting its contribution to the government’s broader health infrastructure agenda. The addition of more beds and enhanced surgical facilities will play a crucial role in meeting the rising demand for healthcare services in the northern corridor of Perth.
Health and Mental Health Minister Meredith Hammat underscored the significance of the new cath labs in increasing access to guided cardiac and vascular procedures for patients. By doubling the capacity and incorporating state-of-the-art technology, the healthcare facility is poised to conduct a higher volume of surgeries and procedures, benefiting a larger patient population.
Moreover, the expansion has brought forth various improvements across the campus, such as a mental health unit, emergency department enhancements, and additional parking facilities. These developments aim to create a more comprehensive and efficient healthcare environment to cater to the growing needs of the local community.
Ramsay Health Care’s contribution to the project includes funding for two additional theatres that will be accessible for both public and private use, further enhancing the surgical capabilities at Joondalup Health Campus. Scheduled to open later in the year, these theatres will complement the existing facilities and support the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality care.
The completion of the new ward block and theatre complex marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare services in Perth. With a focus on innovation and patient-centered care, Joondalup Health Campus is well-positioned to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the community, ensuring access to advanced medical treatments and procedures.
